Method & assumptions

  • Cost is treated as fixed in £ terms (derived from your standard margin % at list price): discounting the price doesn't reduce delivery cost, so every £ of discount comes straight off gross margin.
  • Commission is modelled on booked revenue (TCV = list price × term ÷ 12, less the discount), swap in your own comp-plan basis if commission is instead paid on margin £.
  • Approval tiers (10% / 20% / 30% discount bands) are a common deal-desk default, replace with your own policy thresholds if they differ.
  • This is a planning estimate, not a system of record, reconcile against actual COGS and your comp plan before final sign-off.

Enter the deal's list price and term, the discount being proposed, your standard gross margin at list price, the rep's commission rate, and your internal margin floor.
